Sven Stalman founded Sven USA in Berkeley, California in 1969, with a vision for a fine leather goods studio that could merge simple, classic designs with superior quality and craftsmanship. In the years that followed as larger manufacturers increasingly sent their production offshore, Sven grew his family business and diversified the collection, while retaining the same core design principles of functionality and impeccable craftsmanship.

Stalman summarizes that vision with characteristic clarity, "Our aim is simply to make objects for daily living… objects that by virtue of their use can somehow make one’s day a little bit better."

Sven USA has earned a reputation as our customers' favorite workhorse bags, thanks to Sven's years of carefully listening to feedback about what customers really want in a handbag.
